This week's study is on "What's Our Passion?" I imagine it helps crystalize our purposes. Guess my passion is to "love others into the Kingdom", mainly others like me that may have been stubbornly intellectual about something that can only be understood by the heart.
I remember trying to gain "head knowledge" even as a kid: "Come on Grandma, WHO's the Holy Spirit?!?!" No one ever seemed to adequately explain things to me. Now I think I can understand where my grandma was coming from when she'd do her best to explain. I'm sure she knew she wasn't getting through to me, so then she'd start talking about the end of the world, when all the sinners would burn in an eternal fire...She'd seem flustered, which I'm sure she was, just thinking of how her sweet little granddaughter might end up there!
She just didn't know how else to respond to the little girl who just didn't seem to get it. How can you explain faith?!
With a background like mine, I've come to realize that there's probably a good many people who could be "won to Christ" just by the love. Think that's why I'm so excited about my "cookbook/devotional". It's been my "passion" for the last few years, as the publishing process moves slowly forward. I'm realizing how excited I am to share a gift God's given me in the world of food. Yes, it is my passion.
